 Airlift is an edge-of-the-seat entertaining thriller. The story, based on a true event, is set in 1990 in Kuwait, the time of the Gulf War when Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait. The film has Akshay Kumar, playing Ranjit Katyal, a wealthy and powerful Indian businessman, who initially considers himself a Kuwaiti rather than an Indian. But after finding himself and the lives of his family in danger, eventually becomes the man who helps evacuate 1,70,000 Indians from Kuwait and brings them back safely to India. Over 59 days, 488 Air India commercial airliners were flown into a war zone to evacuate 170,000 Indians and bring them back home safely.

 Airlift is the story of the largest human evacuation in history, which has also found its way to the Guinness Book Of World Records. In a cynical world, where one often wonders what the country has done for them, this is a stark reminder of what the country did, not for one or ten, but for 170,000 of its own. An event which has almost been lost in the sands of history, but an event we all need to remember.

Verdict: A masala-entertainer to enthrall you!
Raftaar Singh (Akshay Kumar), the apple of his mother's (Rati Agnihotri) eye, is also the biggest irritant for his father (Yograj Singh). He is always looking to have fun and runs away from responsibility. This displeases his father to no end. One day, fed up of his dalliances, his fathers orders Raftaar to go to Goa and work for his friend there, and learn to take on responsibility. Respecting his father's wishes, Raftaar leaves. Once in Goa, he impresses his new boss with his enthusiasm and out of the box thinking. Soon he gets an important assignment from his boss which gets him to meet Sara (Amy Jackson) and thus begins their unique love story. Raftaar is joined in this unique romance by the lovable Emily (Lara Dutta) who almost ruins their budding love. What ensues is a great comedy of errors, as one hilarious situation after another unfolds. Raftaar slowly begins to fall head over heels for this exotic, mysterious girl. What starts as a harmless romance takes a deadly turn when he realises that Sara is not who he thinks she is and is here with an agenda which takes him to Romania. The question is, will a village simpleton, who can't even communicate properly be able to win her over in a distant and dangerous land.
